Collection: I’ll Take the Stairs

I’ll Take the Stairs launching January 7th at 9PM, Central MN time, with additional restock on January 22nd at 9AM, Central MN time on Elevation Polish.

Sanssouci- Bright shimmering sunny yellow linear holographic, 2-3 coats for full coverage.

Climbing these Prussian steps brings you up sun-soaked terraces and delivers you to the “carefree” gardens and palace of Sanssouci.

Wayna Picchu- Slate grey, bronze micro shimmer, medium/low density holographic, 2 coats for full coverage.

An ancient Inca track leads up to a peak 1000′ above Machu Picchu. Not a set of stairs for the light-hearted, these stairs wind their way up the mountain to a terraced peak once home to high priests.

Chand Baori- Saturated teal with on tone shifting shimmer (violet to green to blue), 1-2 coats for full coverage. Like all teals please remember to wear base coat to prevent staining.

Like an inverted pyramid, symmetrical steps lead down to a 1000 year old drinking well. The stepwell held more than water, it also held cool air that both royals and the community would enjoy as they escaped the arid heat of Northern India.

Rue Foyatier- Metallic pink, platinum micro flake shimmer, platinum flake shimmer, medium/low density holographic. 3 coats for full effect.

Over 200 steps lead up this iconic Parisian street, but don’t worry, French sophistication means there is also a railway that leads up this steep road.

The Incline- Black holographic near linear. 2 coats for full coverage. It’s a nice blend to get that rich black color without the grey effect holographic pigment can have.

The Ultimate stair-master! 2700 steps lead you 2000′ up towards Pikes Peak. The hardest mile we have walked, it is a good reminder that every journey is accomplished step by step.

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe- Dark dusty jade green with on tone shifting micro shimmer (green to blue), near linear holographic, 2 coats for full coverage.

After crossing a stone arched bridge, steps lead up the island of Gaztelugatxe and bring you to a hermitage offering splendid views of the rugged Basque coast.

We hope that everyone had a great 2016 and that the New Year brings good tidings and joy to each of you! We always look forward to New Years Day as it is a time for fresh starts and new experiences. Starting something new can be daunting but it always starts with a single step, so we thought it fitting that we would bring in 2017 with the “I’ll Take the Stairs” collection! The inspirations for this month are stairs from locations around the world. Some modern, some ancient, some wild, some civilized, each of these stairs are places that inspire us to keep taking the next step!

Collection: Up North

Up North Collection launching October 7th at 9PM, Central(Minnesota) time, with additional restock on October 22nd at 9AM Central(MN) time on Elevation Polish.

Apostle Ice Caves– Grey holographic, shifting blue purple micro flake shimmer, teal micro shimmer, 2 coats may have visible nail line, 3 coats for full coverage.

After a long walk on the clear lake ice, shimmering caves, icicles, and icy chandeliers are truly a sight to behold. at least when the lake ice is strong enough to get you there.

Canadian Shield– Clay Grey Creme, thinner style formula, 3 coats for even full coverage. First coat will look patchy, 2nd coat evens out the color.

This ancient bedrock is one of the largest and oldest geologic features (2.5 – 4 Billion years) and lies under much of Minnesota. Up North it has been exposed by glaciers and the ice smoothed hills and valleys now make up much of the Boundry Waters.

Mount Katahdin–  Dark Wine Red, Red Micro shimmer which gives this polish a semi-metallic finish. Thinner style formula. 3 coats for full coverage.

This nearly mile high mountain is the highest point in Maine and is the ultimate goal of those going NoBo on the Appalachian Trail.

North Shore Drives– Copper/Bronze/Red Bronze, micro shimmer, shimmer and flake shimmer topper. Adds a nice coppery twinkle to your favorite polishes. If worn over pastels or white you may notice a slight coppery haze to the base.

Heading up North in the autumn and driving along Lake Superior is a Minnesota tradition.  The changing colors of the leaves seem even more magnificent on this scenic lake shore route.

Siskiyou Wilderness–  Dark Grape Purple, Blueberry Micro shimmer which gives this polish a hazy blue glow. Thinner style formula. 3 coats for full coverage.

OK, maybe not truly north but located in Northern California, this area is as wild and remote as California can get.  It is home to dense brush, lilies, lilies, and more lilies, old growth forests, wolverines, and maybe Bigfoot?   Well maybe not but it is home to a portion of the Bigfoot Trail.

LE: Yeti’s Ghostly Adventures– Deep Ghostly Dark/Blackened Teal, Blue shimmer, scattered holographic, Thicker style formula.

The inspiration for this month’s collection is Up North!  Regardless of season, going up North is one our favorite activities, but in the autumn Up North is Magical!!!  Crisp cool air, frosty coatings lingering on foggy fall mornings, and the changing of the leaves makes for memorable getaways.  There were lots of northern destinations to chose from but we hope you enjoy a few of our favorite Up Norths!

We love browns, taupes and nudes colors here at elevation. It’s the first colors most of us think of when it comes to the desert landscape. We were researching deserts for the collection. It was a treat to our eyes and much a surprise that deserts are full of life and color.

Atacama Desert blooms is a great example. The driest place on earth usually isn’t full of bright colors. This past year October of 2015 something rare and beautiful happened. It rained. .96 inches in a day providing water to the usually dormant desert flowers. The desert bursted with pink and purple blooms. Some websites say this only happens every 5-7 years.

You can see pictures & read more about the Atacama Desert bloom here at National Geographic’s website

We hope you enjoy our take on deserts.

Collection Inspiration
Wine culture is a lot like the nail polish culture. It is full of passionate makers and equally passionate enthusiasts of their work. It is easy to be inspired by all aspects of wine. From the soil, the grapes, the wine itself, the beautiful surroundings in which grapes tend to grow, to the social nature of wine enjoyment. It’s such a beautiful process.

As we did research for this collection we were shocked at how much amazing information there is out there about viniculture. It’s easy to get lost in a string of information. One path leading to another and another. It’s fascinating.

We also found & watched a couple of interesting movies on netflix and amazon. So if you’d like to learn more about viniculture, or just like movies where the central focus is wine. Here are a couple of suggestions.

A Year in Burgundy (documentary)
Sideways (drama, semi-funny, not really about wine but still a great watch)
Bottle Shock (drama, funny)
John Cleese’s Wine for the Confused (documentary)
Merlove (documentary)
Blood into wine (documentary)
Somm (documentary about becoming a master sommelier)

We hope you enjoy the selections.

NEWS: Labor day sale plus details about the SBPs sale

Hello Elevation Polish Lovers!

I hope you all are having a fantastic start to this fall. I know a lot of you have kiddos that are heading back to school (yay!). Fall is so full of amazing colors, scents and the return of pumpkin spice everything (YAY!) It’s my favorite time of year. September is also my birthday month and with no new collections coming out this month. We thought we would do something special.

September 7th use the code: LABOR20 for 20% off your total purchase.

September 22nd use the code FALL20 for 20% off your total purchase.

Please note that Lulu’s favorite things & SBPs will not be apart of the sale. Just click on the menu called core colors to see all the polishes that are a part of the sale. Codes valid from Midnight (12:01AM) through 11:59PM, central time. The membership site will not be active this month. We need to keep a very tight inventory control this month.

Brown is by far my favorite polish color. It is very fitting that I would have a special sale for brown polishes on my birthday. 🙂 September 13th (my birthday) is the Lulu’s brown blow out sale. No code needed for 50% off all brown polishes. I set up a special side menu (core colors: brown, taupe, nude) so the brown polishes are easier to find. Also keep watch on my Facebook page. I will be giving away a fantastic gift basket (lulu’s favorite things and never before released brown, taupe, nude samples)

In addition to these sales. 16 SBPs will be divided up and released on the 7th (9pm) and the 22nd (9am). Each customer will have a cap of 2 SBPs per household for this month. This will allow others to have a chance to own these limited release polishes.

I had hoped to have a 2 week preview window for the SBPs but I have sadly fallen behind. They will be up for viewing pleasure hopefully by tomorrow afternoon.

Next month, I’ve got another personal collection. The journey through music 2. I can’t wait to share it with you all. Previews will be up on my instagram this week (@elevationpolish) I’ve also got the 4th annual elevation polish auction and sales for charity. I gotta to say though…. I’ve gotten a lot of help from polish maker friends this year… OMGoodness! The theme is Yeti and they are knocking it out of the park with their colors for the auction. Previews of some of the auction polishes will be up on my instagram with the hashtag #EVP4CI2015

Anywhoozle, Let’s start this fall off right! I hope to see you at the sale. 🙂

Cheers to great polishes,
