Collection: Chillin’ in Chile December 2016

Chillin’ in Chile launching December 7th at 9PM, Central MN time, with additional restock on December 22nd at 9AM, Central MN time on Elevation Polish.

Valle de la luna- Saturated Periwinkle Holographic (medium density)

Known for otherworldly salt formations and striking sunsets that turn the whole valley pink and purple tones. It’s strange and dry landscape seems Lunar and has even been used as a testing grounds for a Mars rover.

Volcán el palomo- Dusty Denim Blue, Silver Platinum micro flake shimmer, low density holograpic, thinner style formula.

Enormous jagged granite needles and vast ice flows combine to create impressive and unique views. Glaciers in this are some of the most expansive in Chile.

Maunga Terevaka Dusty saturated green leaning sea glass, silver platinum micro flake shimmer, low density holographic, Thinner style formula.

Rapa Nui’s tallest peak, the trail starts at the base of Ahu Akivi home to seven identical moai and winds up the green slopes to the top of the island.

Caichinque- Red leaning taupe (near mauve) creme with a light formula. 3 thin coats for full coverage.

Nestled between snow-capped peaks and salt flats, the lava flow of Caichinque is an arid environment that is as barren as it is desolate, yet full of wonder and simple beauty.

Cerros de Incahuasi- Tan (Mushroom Taupe) with copper, pink, orange, violet micro shimmer. Thinner style formula to allow the shimmers to shine through. 3 coats for full coverage.

A multi-summit peak, it is often very dry, which makes water procurement difficult, but also gives the mountain a very desert-y vibe. Incahuasi means Inca House and the mountain has one of the highest concentrations of discovered high-altitude archaeological sites in the world.

Douglas’s Love- Deep Magenta with subtle shifting micro shimmer (red to gold). Thin style formula that dries to a matte finish. Apply thin coats to prevent pooling around the cuticle line, allowing extra time between coats.

You can’t mention the mountains of Chile and Patagonia without acknowledging the conservation efforts of the late Douglas Tomkins. His efforts helped create some of the largest nature reserves and national parks in the world.

Chile!!! A bucket list destination for sure! We are infatuated with the beauty and unique nature of this striking country. We know we have mentioned it before (we even named a collection for it), but watch the movie 180 Degrees South! It is one of our all time favorites and helps provide inspiration and motivation to get out and enjoy the beauty of the natural world. A long, dry, and mountainous country, Chile has a lot of wildness and wonders to explore and a rich and long cultural history. We tried to capture the calm and subdued beauty of Chile in this collection. We hope you enjoy!

Collection: Up North

Up North Collection launching October 7th at 9PM, Central(Minnesota) time, with additional restock on October 22nd at 9AM Central(MN) time on Elevation Polish.

Apostle Ice Caves– Grey holographic, shifting blue purple micro flake shimmer, teal micro shimmer, 2 coats may have visible nail line, 3 coats for full coverage.

After a long walk on the clear lake ice, shimmering caves, icicles, and icy chandeliers are truly a sight to behold. at least when the lake ice is strong enough to get you there.

Canadian Shield– Clay Grey Creme, thinner style formula, 3 coats for even full coverage. First coat will look patchy, 2nd coat evens out the color.

This ancient bedrock is one of the largest and oldest geologic features (2.5 – 4 Billion years) and lies under much of Minnesota. Up North it has been exposed by glaciers and the ice smoothed hills and valleys now make up much of the Boundry Waters.

Mount Katahdin–  Dark Wine Red, Red Micro shimmer which gives this polish a semi-metallic finish. Thinner style formula. 3 coats for full coverage.

This nearly mile high mountain is the highest point in Maine and is the ultimate goal of those going NoBo on the Appalachian Trail.

North Shore Drives– Copper/Bronze/Red Bronze, micro shimmer, shimmer and flake shimmer topper. Adds a nice coppery twinkle to your favorite polishes. If worn over pastels or white you may notice a slight coppery haze to the base.

Heading up North in the autumn and driving along Lake Superior is a Minnesota tradition.  The changing colors of the leaves seem even more magnificent on this scenic lake shore route.

Siskiyou Wilderness–  Dark Grape Purple, Blueberry Micro shimmer which gives this polish a hazy blue glow. Thinner style formula. 3 coats for full coverage.

OK, maybe not truly north but located in Northern California, this area is as wild and remote as California can get.  It is home to dense brush, lilies, lilies, and more lilies, old growth forests, wolverines, and maybe Bigfoot?   Well maybe not but it is home to a portion of the Bigfoot Trail.

LE: Yeti’s Ghostly Adventures– Deep Ghostly Dark/Blackened Teal, Blue shimmer, scattered holographic, Thicker style formula.

The inspiration for this month’s collection is Up North!  Regardless of season, going up North is one our favorite activities, but in the autumn Up North is Magical!!!  Crisp cool air, frosty coatings lingering on foggy fall mornings, and the changing of the leaves makes for memorable getaways.  There were lots of northern destinations to chose from but we hope you enjoy a few of our favorite Up Norths!

Collection: Wonderful Washington

Wonderful Washington Collection launching September 7th at 9PM, Central MN time, with additional restock on September 22nd at 9AM, Central MN time on Elevation Polish.

Hall of Mosses- Metallic green gold holographic. Thinner style formula. Color deepens and darkens with added coats. 1 coat is very natural, 2 coats little more holographic, 3 coats and the green color comes out more.

Located within the Hoh River Valley this short hike is both accessible and a perfect example of what makes the area so awe inspiring.

Hoh River Valley- Swamp Olive green crème/jelly with Ultra chrome flake shimmer in gold, green, blue. 2-3 coats for full coverage.

Set in the midst of a temperate rain forest this area can receive 14 feet of precipitation in a year, helping make it one of the greenest places we have ever been and the perfect inspiration for one of our greenest greens.

Mount Rose- Natural Mauve, light dusty purple. Platinum micro flake shimmer with a slight touch of holographic pigment. 2-3 coats for full coverage.

Mount Rose is the destination of a short but demanding hike (3500′, 6mi) and is where the Whiskey Jack birds kept photobombing as we tried to take product shots (much to our delight)! Check out our Instagram post from a couple of months ago.

The Royal Shaft- Royal blue crème/jelly hybrid. Shifting micro shimmer. Mostly looks like violet micro shimmer. Thinner style formula. 3 coats for full coverage.

This rocky spire overlooks the Royal Lake Basin plus… it looks as hilarious as it sounds, lol!

Unicorn Horn- Bright and Vivid blue linear holographic. Thinner style formula. 2-3 coats for full coverage. Light coats seem to do best.

Lower than the parking lot but still a 2000′ climb. Unicorn Horn and unicorn peak is an intimidating, harder than it looks hike and climb that brings you to a neat rock outcropping and an awesome view of both Port Angeles and the mountains of Canada across the Straight of San Juan du Fuca

Wonderful Washington is the inspiration for this month’s collection and we are especially excited about it! Washington state is one of our favorite places to visit and where many of our most memorable hikes, climbs, and adventures have been. However, as we started the process of color creation and making our final picks we realized that more than anything this collection was being inspired by the Olympic National Park/Forest and all the wonders that lie within. So with that in mind, we named all the polishes this month for places in the ONP and decided that we will have to save the rest of Washington for another time 🙂

We hope that everyone has been enjoying their summer as we begin the transition into fall!

Colorado is the official home away from home for elevation polish. We have spent lots of time exploring, wandering, hiking, skiing, and spending time with family in colorado. The collection is a reflection of the familiar (represented by turquoise), adventures yet to be had (represented by red/pink), Love, Happiness, Zen (represented by Grey/White/Brown)

Blackout Street Fox, the name seemingly doesn’t fit into the collection. However, this polish name comes with a story. I’ll keep it short. Wandering the streets of Breckenridge, Co the power went out in the whole city. As a friend and I continued to wander the city, the streets empty, quiet and dark, a lone fox wandered along the middle of the street. There was something so profound about watching this fox stroll down the middle of the main street there in breckenridge. Almost like he wanted to reclaim or announce that just beyond the tourist trap shop lined streets this area was his.

We hope you enjoy our homage to the amazing state of Colorado. 🙂

Sneak “Peak” A Journey told through music collection

I thought I would take a break from shipping and bring you all an early sneak “peak” to a very personal collection for January 2015, A Journey told through music collection.

December as we assemble with our family and friends. It reminds me that January is all about ourselves. It’s a time to start a new. New diets, new life choices, new adventures, possibly even new members of your family, hopefully new polishes. I’ve had quite a few amazing journeys in my life. January is normally when I sit down and decide what adventures the new year will bring. The music lover in me always makes a soundtrack for my journeys. Without fail there is that one song that sticks out and gets stuck in my head for the whole trip. Inspired by songs that take me back to a time, place, memory and journey. I present a sneak “peak” at A Journey told through music collection. Click the name of the Artist and song to be taken to youtube for a listen.

The Sea was Red
back by popular demand the red sea revised with a couple of slight adjustments. Red to Gold/Orange duochrome super holographic. The original (red sea) was actually inspired by a song (fun fact) which is why it’s so perfect for this collection.
Led Zeppelin- Going to California

Quarter Past Midnight
Blue to Purple duochrome that in some specific lighting conditions will appear red or gold. Opaque in 2 coats, 3 for best results. It can also be worn 1 coat over black
DJ Shadow- Midnight in a perfect world

Just like night time
Is a navy medium to high density holographic with blue, teal, aqua shimmer. (fun fact) the song that inspired this polish is also my ringtone on my phone. LOL It also happens to be from one of my favorite movies “The Point” which also inspired the polish Pointless Forest.
Harry Nilsson- Life line

Definition: The Vivid Unknown
This navy hint of teal creme is one of my dream polishes. It’s something I’ve always wanted to create and is one of my favorites to wear under shimmer and glitter toppers. This polish was inspired by two songs
Phillip Glass & Yo-Yo Ma- Definition
Phillip Glass & Yo-Yo Ma- The Vivid Unknown

Storm in the morning light
A hard to describe color. It is in the light slate grey blue family. Creme that is opaque in 2 coats and dries with a high shine. It really does remind me of storm clouds in the morning.
Portishead- Roads

Walk a little farther
a striking resemblance to an older color (Alphubel) this light blue is jam packed with intense blue micro shimmer. A symbol of using the past to build a fresh start and a bright future.
Modest Mouse- The world at large

And finally this collection wouldn’t be complete without Yeti. It wouldn’t be a collection without him.

Yeti Hugs: Feel so close
White (hint of grey) creme/jelly base with an arrangement of Blue, Pink, Purple flake shimmer. White to represent what a yeti hug would look like. It just feels like an optimistic polish. It’s one of my favorite palette cleansers.
Calvin Harris- Feel so close

I hope you enjoy this collection and playlist as much as I enjoyed putting this collection together. Some of the colors will be shown off better by bloggers. My camera set up isn’t sensitive enough to capture some of the fine details of the polishes.

❤ Lulu

The Sea Collection

Huge shot out to all the amazing bloggers out there who helped me capture amazing photos of the sea collection. Without their help, you all would have to see my photos, which we all know are sub par at best. LOL

I’m really excited about this collection. It features colors I wear very regularly. So you could say that this collection is tailor built just for me. It’s moody, cool and has all my favorite finish types. It leaves a lot of options for wearing them alone, stamping, nail art, marbling, layering. I don’t know if anyone will try this but I wore Bohai (thin layer) over Thracian. It sounds crazy but it gave bohai a dark depthness to it. It looks pretty cool.

This collection features polishes that are on the thick side. Thick polishes are my preference when it comes to opacity, and application feel. I know it’s not everyone’s preference so if you like thinner polishes. You can always use thinner in my polishes to make them your desired consistency. I recommend you use brands of thinner I’ve tested to work well with my polishes. The following work really well: Seche Vite, Zoya, OPI, Nicole OPI. Sally’s beauty brand does not however work well with my polishes. It will leave a ring of a rust colored fluid at the top of the polish, which won’t shake back in over time.

Bohai Sea- bright blue holo (holo is medium density)
Ceram Sea- bright turquoise creme (green leaning)
Weddell Sea- off white, white shimmer, silver shimmer, light holographic (low density)
Thracian Sea- Dark Grey (blue leaning/purple undertones) creme
The Med 2- Teal with green shimmer and green shift to gold shimmer
Limited Edition: Yeti’s oceanside vacation (available for June restocks only)

Ok so let’s get to pics!!!! First up is a group shot that I took, but after that I’m going to leave you with some links to bloggers who have taken gorgeous swatch shots which are more color accurate.

Swatches can be found here (with more to be added soon!)

Ida Nails it
Pointless Cafe
Dani’s Manis
Adventures in Acetone
Amanda Loves Polish (Facebook)

I hope you all love the collection as much as I do. I may have to revisit the inspiration the sea again. It was such a fun idea to work with. I have a billion ideas and it was tough to narrow it down to what I did.

Cheers to great polishes,
❤ Lulu

Elevation Polish: Inside look Pic de Sotllo (Pyrénées Collection)

Outdooor, Indirect sunlight, Overcast

top pics Outdoor direct sunlight, bottom pics at an angle direct sunlight

Outdoor direct sunlight

Color Base: Elevation Polish Pic de Sotllo (Pyrénées Collection)

Base Coat: Butter London Foundation Base Coat

Top Coat: Seche Vite (tainted bottle. please excuse the glitter dot in the pics)

Notes: *Pictured on day #3 of this mani* I can’t for the life of me get this to photograph (same story different day) Pic de Sotllo is a vibrant, almost in your face, Blue Creme. It has no shimmer at all. It’s very pigmented. This formula is a bit thinner than most of my core collection formulas. It’s still very easy to apply and clean up. I’ve shown it in these pictures with 2 coats. 1 coat is usually fine but I did two just to make sure. This polish works well with Matte toppers. Essie worked very well but Chanel matte coat was streaky. You might want to test on a nail wheel before you go about using your favorite matte coat.

Inspiration: The Pyrénées is a mountain range separating Spain from France. Pic de Sotllo Located in this mountain range was an amazing sight. Technically it is on the Spanish side of the Pyrénées. The color was not inspired by the mountain itself but the color you see on a bright summer day at the top. The sky is clean, vibrant, fresh and Blue. You can almost breathe in the Blue.

  • July 7th on my website
  • August 7th on my website & etsy

Cheers to great polishes,
